SimCity for the Super Nintendo, running natively in your browser
This is the 1991 SNES SimCity. Its 65816 machine code was translated to C with snesrecomp and compiled to WebAssembly, so the game's own code runs directly instead of through an emulated CPU. The graphics and sound chips are still emulated.
What's new
- Mouse controls. The original only had the gamepad.
- Live city stats on the side: population, funds, RCI demand, zones, roads, services and land use.
- Fast-forward up to 8×.
- An old-TV filter with scanlines and a phosphor mask.
- The city keeps running in a background tab, with the date in the tab title.
How to play
You need your own SimCity (USA) ROM, .sfc or .smc. Load it once and it stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded, and saved cities stay there too. Click to build, drag to draw roads, rails and power lines, right-drag to move the map, and right-click to go back.
